Rev2 Stock Head Unit locked 'HELP'

Posting on behalf of behalf of Rachel's brother who we've signed up as a full member (i'll get him to get his ass in gear and post something now he has a shiny car) which has a little issue the OC may be able to help with.

It's a bone stock rev2 sunroof UK car, all completely original, still has the heatshield on the cat - anyone else seen that!?!?!?

Anyhoo - the stereo. Stock MR2 Toyota Radio Tape CD double din unit. It's been code locked I am guessing and displaying 'HELP' on the LCD screen. We've tried this in the KY2

but obviously not having the code we're in a fix. I found something else on mr2.com to do with hold PWR 1 4 and 6 - repeat 10 times but that didn't work either.

So the KY2 page says without the code - report to you dealer. Is this the case or is there another way round?

I've never known an MR2 HU with a code! (Sorry, that wasn't helpful... par for the course with me though)
