Midship Runabout is just the Japanese translation, Engrish at it's best

Mr T changed his tune on that one several times, originally it was meant to mean "Midship Runabout, 2 seater" then it was changed in later years and then seemed to change back again
Brian Long mentions the change of definition in a couple of his books on the history of the MR2
It's like the MK1 bonnet emblem (affectionately know as the "Screaming Chicken")


which is meant to to represent "aerodynamic beauty through evolution" a stylised version of that was used for the MK3
