Confirmed: my last thread in SDC

I think it is time to call it a day on this one. As I said in the main post, yellow means death. I've had enough of the hassle and I've definitely spent too many saturday nights by the roadside (see new pics in 1st post).

The harsh reality is that I need to save for a house, I've already spent hundreds on this one incident and there's no end in sight. Now is not the time to dump more money into this machine.

I'm going to miss this car one hell of a lot. I'm going to miss the sort of drive that I come on here and write about. I'm going to miss the atmosphere at meets.

I'm still going to make a point of meeting the guys from this site - especially if I can help with the cars. Just going to have to do it in a small red fiesta..


Now to decide how to dispose of it in the least economically painful way!

Have read your driving posts before so had to read this one!, quite a talent for putting the feelings most of us have driving MR2's into words. Sorry to hear the conclusion you reached but can definately understand why, am sure you will return to MR2's at some point - hope so anyway so can read more driving experiences the way only you can write.

You're literary style is so good & accurate that i can almost feel the heat coming from the engine bay or hear that 'clink' you describe coming from metal components after one of your fabled runs.
When ever i see one of your SDC write-ups i always grab a cupper & hunker down for a fantastic read !Top job mate & good luck with any future plans for your 2 .

It would be a bit crass of me to post a 'thank you' to every reply I receive, people would think I was just trying to keep on the latest post list, but I do want to say thanks to you all for your kind words. It means a lot to know there are people out there that enjoy the same things I do.

In these days of speed cameras etc I often feel like an ASBO youth just because I want to open the taps a little and enjoy my life. Getting a reaction like this to a post reminds me that society isn't all gatsos and SPECs just yet.

I'm very glad you all enjoyed the post. I hope to offer another for your viewing pleasure before too long!

He has recently developed a terrible itch.

The underlying cause is known but some of the symptoms are giving his medical team some concerns. The correct prophylaxis is crucial. Any expert assistance from suitably qualified people will be welcome as the scratching is not helping alleviate his discomfort.

Oh y’know Jimi… Playing away with other cars etc. Tony has been keeping me abreast of key developments.

Truth be told, the desire to return never really went away, but after all the various debacles I worked hard to suppress it. Of course when half a decade of “cold Turkey” doesn’t work you need to face facts.

The itch is burning hotter and hotter now…

Tony’s words are actually true on many levels. Not least that I’m currently laid up with Covid so with not much better to do I was looking back through here. Reading a few of these threads did nothing to allay the desire to get back in the fold.

Way ahead of you Jimi. I’ve raided the classifieds, IMOC, Autotrader, Pistonheads, Car & Classic, Gumtree, Facebook, preloved and eBay for all they’re worth.

To put it mildly, I’ve been burned by these cars a few times so I’m *quite* picky about what I want and there are certain red flags (rational or otherwise) that have put me off every car on sale to date.

It’s got so bad that I’m considering buying an MOT fail to prat around with until a car which meets my rather unique requirements comes up.

That’s one of the reasons I re emerged on this specific thread. While Mr Misfire was far from perfect I massively regret selling it.

That’s all in the past of course. Mission now is to ensure (as the song said) that life gets better as we go.
