Project Mk2
Hi all!
New member of the club! I have recently purchased a “barn find” 1992 mk2 as a project.
Overall seems a solid car, but it has sat for 5 years so I’m going over as much as I can in the hopes of eventually getting her back on the road again.
There is a mr2oc sticker on the back window so a previous owner may be on here? Or if anyone knows of the car I would be interested to hear about it
So far the only big issues I’ve found are rust, which has sadly eaten through both rear wheel arches! Hoping this is something that can be fixed fairly easily! It looks like the sills have been started at some point but need finishing!
Looking forward to getting stuck in and bringing this one back to its former glory

Re: Project Mk2
I thought that used to belong to toymr2, who used to be one of the Regional Reps for Scotland.
But the VRM is different, pretty sure I've seen it before, you might find pics in one of the Galleries, TLF might know it.

Re: Project Mk2
Looks like its had uk front wings fitted to it. Or some one has fitted side repeaters on the wings and sone away with the jdm toleberones. As the repeaters look more oval than stock ukdm ones. Either way it is a JDM rev 2 import for sure. If that helps you out any

Re: Project Mk2
I thought the last digit of the VRM was 8, but after looking at the second picture I see it's 6, so it was Peter's car. Is it a auto ? One of his MK2's was written off, I thought that it was that one, although I could be completely wrong about that, maybe it was repaired.

Re: Project Mk2
It is an auto Jimi
Nice to finally find out some more info on it! I see you are Glenrothes based too!
According to the reg report I purchased it hasn't been written off (I hope not anyway)
Looks like it has seen very better days than its current state haha! Needs a fair bit of welding doing but apart from that things are looking decent so far. Very much using this as a project car to learn on. In the process of rebuilding the front and rear calipers at the moment.
Cheers for the reply

Re: Project Mk2
Thinking about it, he sold the auto and bought a turbo so it must may have been the turbo that was written off (A92, on the dual carriage heading south just after the bridge) IIRC he bought a MK3 after that. I should have a few more pictures of it if your interested ?
The one I posted above was taken in 2006 at a meet in Halbeath retail park.
Are you in the Kingdom as well ?

October 2005
There's a good article in KY2 on rear calipers, it's written for the MK1 but the MK2 calipers are the same construction

Not Plan B again!! Why don't we just go with plan B in the first place?
