Wheels rubbing on suspension?

Post by oscarjm »

Hey everyone, in the process of fitting some new 17” wheels to my mr2. Rear ones have gone on fine, however when lowering of the jack i seem to notice nearly zero space between the wheel and the suspension unit. Also wheels seem to be rubbing on full lock against the sides of the arches. Might sound a stupid question but do i just need smaller tyres? Currently running 215/45/r17. Any help would be much appreciated.

45 height is too tall, 215/40/17 would be a better option. I have 225/40/17 on mine and doesn't rub. As for the actual rim rubbing you'll need to know the offset and if you have coilovers or struts
