MK1b and MK2 floor/chassis differences
I've come across a rather sad G reg MK2 with an even more sad Ferrari lookalike body kit on it. What I'm wondering is that are the floor pans/ chassis legs/ suspension mounting points similar on these early MK2's the same as the late MK2b's?

Bit confused with your descriptions 1989 (G) could either be a MK1b or a MK2 rev1, they are entirely different cars with totally different bodyshells.
You need to clarify which model you have before we can help. Is the battery in the engine bay or the front boot ?

If your title is correct then there are no dimensional similarities between the MK1b and the MK2 floorpan/body. The MK2 is bigger and heavier all round.

It's defo a MK2, battery in front boot etc. The reason I asked is that I tried to look underneath to see if the suspension mounting points were similar with the thought to use any such sections to repair my one. However that's all in the past now anyway and I'm on a different path now!

Ah, sort of similar but not close on dimensions. Seeing the MK1 is beyond saving, you have another project ? 4A-GE into a classic mini perhaps ?

Yeah it's been milling about in me head, would probably need a gearbox and diff from an 80's Corolla. Do away with the standard fueling and stick on a pair of side draughts or aftermarket injection and ignition set up??? Or I could just calm down a bit and flog the engine and gearbox and be done with it!

Rabbit Hole Warning!!! ( I was down one for a couple of days with this search )
If you search for either 4AGE Mini or 4A-GE Mini you'll find a few others, I came across that one a while ago while searching for info on that Yellow one I posted.

If you do decide to go for it You could stick a build thread in here https://www.mr2oc.co.uk/forum/135.html
