key fob will only unlock doors

I hope some on here will be able to help me
I have a 1996 rev 3 the key fob will not arm security system the central locking works for both doors but the key fob will only unlock the doors

How old is battery in fob?, have you tried to reset it?

The battery is new i did read up on how to reset if it did not work
Would it be the same for the problem i have now

just read the bgb not much help as does not give the fault i have look like i will need to look at each wire in turn

Sometimes where the wiring harness goes between body and door the wires get nipped and break, check that, drivers side first.

Thanks will do i think i may have tracked it down to the switch on the back of the drives door lock
