What not to do with your mr2
Hi Guys.
Don’t know where to put this one so I’ve stuck it here.
Came across this abomination on fleebay. I’m not sure where to look.
Who could do this to any MR2. Poor thing.
It gets worse. Just look at the back.

Actually, in an idle moment, I've looked at the EBay listing, and:
In a number of photos, it's either covered in frost or absolutely filthy.
Just take a look at the engine bay!!!
Oh, and no MoT since 2015 and failed that on corrosion.
No, thank you.

I'm concerned that the dustbin, also finished in matt grey paint, (Picture no.3) is going to be fitted onto this fabulous looking project and spoil it.

I've never heard of bodywork that's 'unbreakable' Lee would have appreciated some of that!Ad wrote:Steel body – not fibreglass!! Unbreakable, easy to repair and tune!
Car is in perfect condition, no rust or damage, starts and drives very well.
Nor how you 'tune' it...
If he is referring to the car's mechanicals that should be made clear as a separate bullet point.
Does this guy not realise you can look up a car's MOT history online?
How does he expect to get 5 grand for an n/a with no current ticket?
And which very likely needs new sills* so any buyer will need to budget for that.
* And quite possibly a whole lot more.
As for the concept, one word: Marmite!

Re: What not to do with your mr2
I think the dustbin might be for the "flux capacitor"
It's a serious mess, though. How is one meant to see out the back through those grills, I'm not convinced the mirrors clear the rear view over those "wings", where's the boot gone and have you looked at the welding in the engine bay photo . I'm almost tempted to join the watch list for it, just to see what happens and, as Tony suggests, MoT could be an issue. I can almost see an examiner thumbing through the rule book wondering if any of it is legal.

Re: What not to do with your mr2
I'm sorry, I think I need treatment, I keep looking at this.
Ahem...front view, where are the headlights, side lights and indicators? Surely they don't pop up somehow from that lot.
I really do have to stop doing this, it's painful. I have to keep popping outside to see how good looking my bog standard Rev 2 is.

It looks like those are what is fitted in the recesses at the leading edge of the wings. If that is the case they are not legal.* The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations require them to be a minimum height above ground of 500mm.**S81933 wrote: ↑15/08/18 17:26 I'm sorry, I think I need treatment, I keep looking at this.

Manufacturers of kit cars and the like don't perch them on angled brackets just for s**ts and giggles ffs!!
* Another reason for a MOT fail if/when it next gets tested.
** Around 1ft 7¾inches in old money.
It's virtually unsellable in its present guise imo. Except to some dreamer who hasn't got a clue...

All that extra "censored" on it is *steel*? Wonder how much it now weighs!

About the same as a 16 seater minibus full of Sumo wrestlers...

Interesting that the rear lights are from a Transit, rotated 90 degrees.
What an abomination, lol

"This is unique car, the only in the world, so you will definitely stand off the crowd!"
He got that bit right in the description.

Re: What not to do with your mr2
I know I'd said I'd stop doing this, but...
"Drives well" - how would he know, it's had no MoT since 2015.
Check the seller:
Check feedback - absolutely nothing to do with vehicles, all micro-electronics.
Check his other item - 3.8 Jag. Description written as if it's his car and work , states collectable from Farnborough (MR2 is in Birmingham ) - all curious.
