Suspension Arm Replacement bush
The bush on the rear suspension arm of my mk1 is worn and has too much play in it (causing the wheel to vibrate).
I need to replace it, but I can only find complete bush kits for the whole of the car. I don't want to replace everything just now, so where can I find just the bush?

Re: Suspension Arm Replacement bush
The manual labels it as 'Suspension Arm' in RA-7 step 7, although I thought it was called the 'tie rod' arm. Its the bush at the end that connects to the car body. Driver's side, left most outer arm.
I just replaced one on a VW Caddy and it cost £20 for a new one.

If it's the one on the inboard end of the one marked as suspension arm in this diagram then as far as I know it's not available separately in this country, Toyota only supply it as part of the arm. Try TCB for new or refurbished ones

Yep that's the one.
I can't even find a bushing kit that includes it.

No-one does them -- same for the Mk2. Try TCB.
Alternatives would be rose joint it or buy some polyurethane bar and make the bush.

I've enquired with TCB and some other places.
Has anyone else done the rose joint mod or made their own bushing?
It has to be similar to a one used one another car, has anyone got any part numbers or any other info about it?

"Twos r Us" in the States do replacement arms
I believe Peter Gidden (SBits) is the authorised UK reseller of them. Various peeps have made their own using rose joints. If you search around the forums TwoBrutal, imoc etc you should find some info. Personally I have my doubts as to how well they will stand up to the weather and winter salt in the UK.
When I replaced mine I got used ones from TCB, come refurbished and were spot on

Re: Suspension Arm Replacement bush
The bushing you are talking about is a very specialized articulated joint. The heim-joint tie-rods are similar, but unlikely to last anywhere near as long. Don't know why they would only sell those as part of the whole arm over there, but they have always been available as separate pieces in the US.

Re: Suspension Arm Replacement bush
You may be misunderstanding what I meant by "complete arm" The tie rod comprises 3 parts
Suspension arm.
Tie rod tube.
Tie rod end.
Those 3 parts are available separately, but the bush is only available as part of the "suspension arm "

Sorry, yes, I did misunderstand. I should have known that you wouldn't misstate that, lol.

I went with the TCB option.
The old suspension arm wasn't exactly easy to get off...
